Personality
Rukia has a rather complex personality. On the surface, she is friendly, cordial, and extremely well-mannered, due in much to her place within the noble Kuchiki family. She is an accomplished actress, generally able to adapt herself and fit into nearly any situation she is placed into with only a small amount of awkwardness. Rukia is an accomplished shinigami, with the majority of her skills lending more towards kidou than towards swordsmanship. Her abilities are high enough to warrant a seated position, however she is denied that due to her brother's influence. Rukia does not make friends easily, and as such she tends to be more of a solitary soul. When in her "human" persona, she is much more charming, congenial, and friendly, though this easily fades away when she returns to her "true" personality of the shinigami. She has an easy time manipulating a situation, often playing the part of a poor innocent girl in order to turn attentions elsewhere for her own means. Due to the events of her past, Rukia harbours a lot of guilt, and this is a constant weight that she bears silently. One of the most notable points of her personality is her lack of knowledge of the human world, and she is often found in amusing situations as a result.

Likes
Likes: Rabbit-themed things, winter, juice drinks, strawberries, dresses.
Dislikes: Tight clothes, being wrong.

Background
Rukia died in the human world as a baby, and was sent to Inuzuri, the 78th district of Rukongai, with her elder sister Hisana. However, Hisana was unable to care for both herself and a baby, so she abandoned the infant Rukia. Hisana would go on to marry the heir of one of the four noble clans, Kuchiki Byakuya. Rukia grew up in Inuzuri on her own, managing quite well for herself, and eventually befriending another orphan boy by the name of Abarai Renji. She and Renji, along with several other such children, formed their own makeshift family living off the hard streets of Inuzuri. Unlike their friends, Renji and Rukia were the only two who demonstrated abnormally high spiritual powers. Years later, their friends all dead and buried, the two of them decided to become shinigami together, in order to find a better life than the one they managed to scrape from the streets. Once in Academy, they began to grow apart, in part due to the fact that Renji was accepted into the advanced class. During this time, Rukia was approached by the Kuchiki clan, who proposed her adoption into their family. Unbeknownst to her, Hisana had died, and as her final wish had asked her husband to find the sister that she had abandoned. She asked Byakuya to hide the truth from Rukia, and to take her in and be a brother to her, to fulfil the role that Hisana always regreted shedding. Despite her initial reluctance, with Renji's push Rukia accepted the offer and became a member of the clan. She was rushed through her schooling and quickly placed into the 13th division of the Gotei-13, under command of Ukitake Jyuushirou. Despite the fact that her abilities warranted a possible seated position, Byakuya intervened so that she was never given one. The move pulled her and Renji further apart, which only lead to her further isolation until she was taken under wing by the vicecaptain of her division, Shiba Kaien. Taking the new recruit under his wing, Kaien not only taught her, but treated her like a younger sibling, giving her the care and affection that she needed. Rukia grew extremely fond of him, perhaps even to the extent of love. When Kaien was possessed by a Hollow, Rukia was forced to kill her mentor, a fact that continues to haunt her. After this, she was stationed at a post in Karakura, where she encountered Kurosaki Ichigo. When a Hollow attacked, drawn by Ichigo's ridiculously high spiritual powers, Rukia sacrificed herself to save him. Offering the young man a last-ditch chance to save his family, she attempted to transfer half of her powers to him. However, instead of half, Ichigo ended up taking them all. Afterwards, Rukia took up a position posing as a transfer student at his highschool while Ichigo took over her job as a shinigami. This arrangement worked well for a couple of months, until Byakuya and Renji showed up to take Rukia back to Soul Society to stand trial for the crime of transferring her powers to a human. Ichigo, along with several of their friends, soon followed her, with rescue in mind. When it was revealed that the true mastermind behind her execution was Aizen Sousuke, Ichigo and co joined forces with those of Seireitei, however it was to no avail as Aizen took the Hougyoku, which Urahara Kisuke had hidden within Rukia's soul, and departed to Hueco Mundo with his followers. Rukia remained in Soul Society as Ichigo and the others returned to the human world, though she followed them a few weeks later, after the return of her powers, and in time to join them as the Arrancar, created by Aizen, began to make their presence known. When Inoue Orihime was taken captive by Ulquiorra, the 4th Espada, Rukia and Renji were ordered back to Soul Society while Ichigo, Chad, and Ishida journeyed into Hueco Mundo after her. However, Rukia and Renji soon joined them as the group began to fight their way to Inoue. Upon splitting up, Rukia found herself in a confrontation with the 9th Espada, Arroniero Arleirri. Removing his mask to reveal the face of Shiba Kaien, he was able to lower her guard at first. Upon his revealing that he had consumed Metastacia, the Hollow that had originally possessed Kaien, Rukia was finally able to shake off her guilt and realize that this was not, in fact, Kaien, and she was able to finally fight him wholeheartedly. She was able to kill him, but was gravely wounded in the process and was only saved by the timely appearance of reinforcements from Soul Society. Meeting back up with Ichigo, she joined forces with Renji, Chad, and Ishida in holding off the Exequias while Ichigo made his way to save Inoue.

Abilities - Zanpakutou
Rukia's zanpakutou, Sode no Shirayuki, is an elemental kidou type, specifically an ice-based power. It is released with the phrase "Mai" (dance). To release it, Rukia holds the sword in front of her, blade pointing down, and spins it slowly. In shikai form, it has a slightly longer hilt, and the entire sword, from blade to hilt, turns a pure white. Sode no Shirayuki has three known attacks, referred to as dances. They are as follows:
Some no Mai: Tsukishirou (First Dance, White Moon) - This creates a circle of influence around an enemy, freezing everything from earth to heavens within the circle into a pillar of ice.
Tsugi no Mai: Hakuren (Second Dance, White Ripple) - This creates a massive wave of ice that instantly freezes everything in it's path.
San no Mai: Shirofune (Third Dance, White Sword) - This attack reforges her broken blade from ice, piercing anything in it's path.

Abilities - Kidou and Others
Rukia's skill with kidou far outstrips her skills with a sword, something she herself has admitted to. That being said, here is a list of known kidou she has used in canon, though it can hardly be said that they are the only ones she knows.
Hadou #33 - Soukatsui - An offensive kidou that fires a blue flame energy blast.
Bakudou #1 - Sai - A binding kidou that makes it difficult to move.
Bakudou #69 - Rikujoukoro - A binding kidou of 6 yellow planes of light that trap the victim.
Hadou #31 - Shakkahou - An offensive kidou that causes a burst of explosive red energy.
Hadou #63 - Raikahou - An offensive kidou of energy gathered in the hands and then shot in a destructive, lightning-like bolt.

Konso - An ability of all shinigami to release souls and send them on their way to Soul Society.

Relationships - Canon
Kurosaki Ichigo - Ichigo is arguably Rukia's closest friend, perhaps more. Her partner as a shinigami, she spends most of her time with the human teen, serving as a foil to his nature, often able to shake some sense into him, or get through to him when no one else does. He is one of the few people she confides in, and their relationship is one of an extreme level of closeness, despite it's short duration.
Inoue Orihime - Despite their dissimilarities, Rukia is extremely fond of Inoue, considering her one of the few true friends she has. She both admires and envies the gentle girl, both for the world that she inhabits, and also for her gentle and forgiving nature.
Yasutora Sado - Another of Rukia's comrades, though she doesn't spend much time with Chad and as such, doesn't know him very well.
Ishida Uryuu - Though the Quincy tends to keep himself distant from the rest of the group, she nevertheless considers him a friend.
Abarai Renji - Rukia's closest friend from childhood, Renji is like a brother to her, as she is seemingly unaware of the deep and abiding love he still harbours for her. Aside from Ichigo, Renji is probably the closest one to Rukia, and in some ways knows her even better than the substitute shinigami.
Kuchiki Byakuya - Rukia's elder brother, she has a rather distant relationship with him, mostly due to his own demeanor. However, despite his distant and somewhat cold manner, Byakuya cares for his adopted sister very much, and she reciprocates.
Shiba Kaien - Rukia's vicecaptain. He was her mentor, and one of the first people to treat her as simply another shinigami after her adoption into the Kuchiki clan. His death, at her hands, still haunts Rukia to this day.
Ukitake Jyuushirou - Rukia's captain. A caring man, he treats her with a very fatherly manner, and she seems to appreciate and respond well to his caring concern with a great deal of respect and admiration.

Relationships - RP
None here yet, but hopefully she'll make some City friends soon.
